Education Appeals Training
Ian Jones frequently provides training to independent appeal panel members and clerks
on the law and guidance relating to admission appeals and exclusion appeals.
Appeal panel members and their clerks must receive training at least every two years,
and should receive fresh training when any major changes are made to the law or codes
of guidance.
The training has been fully updated to reflect the new School Admissions Code 2012
and School Admission Appeals Code 2012, together with the new regulations. The training
on Exclusion Appeals also takes account of the major reform of exclusion appeals
set out in the new Exclusions Code 2012.
Ian has direct experience of clerking appeals and each year represents many parents
and schools at panel hearings.
Appeal panel training is provided at your own venue and at a time convenient to your
panel members’ needs. By providing the venue and refreshments and meeting the copying
costs yourselves, the costs of training can be significantly reduced.
Panel training can be tailored to meet your individual needs, perhaps to focus on
grammar schools or academies, or to combine admission/exclusion training, and can
vary from two hours to a full day’s seminar.
Feedback from recent training includes:
“I thought the training/trainer was excellent” (North East)
“Just to say how good the training was - best we have had in my opinion” (North East)
“We enjoyed it and found it very useful” (Birmingham)
