Ian is a barrister with nearly 20 years’ experience. Ian has attended hundreds of
admission appeal hearings on behalf of parents, schools and as legal advisor (clerk)
to the appeal panel. Ian provides training on the appeals process to panel members,
school governors and legal advisors.
Ian also undertakes exclusion appeals, special needs tribunals and other education
work relating to pupil discipline, governors, school staff & employment, NQT appeals,
school finance & property, free schools, SEN & disability, awards & grants, and
Ombudsman complaints.
Ian appears regularly on BBC TV & radio and in the national press to comment about
school appeals and the admissions system.
Ian also undertakes a wide range of other direct access work (usually for a fixed
fee), as well as accepting instructions from solicitors. This includes providing
advice, drafting documents and attending hearings at all levels of courts, tribunals
and appeal panels.
Unlike many appeal service providers, Ian can provide fully-qualified legal advice,
backed by experience, at a time that suits your needs - Ian can be contacted outside
of normal office hours, at evenings and weekends. See what Ian’s satisfied customers
